UNLV Researchers Are Looking for Nevada Shift Workers for an Alzheimer's Sleep Study

A paid research opportunity for current and retired day and night shift healthcare professionals in Southern Nevada.

As both a registered nurse and mortgage loan officer, I love sharing opportunities that may benefit our healthcare community.

I recently learned about this UNLV School of Nursing research study examining how shift work, sleep, and circadian rhythms may influence long-term cognitive health. If you've worked days or nights in healthcare, this may be something you're interested in learning more about.

✔ Live in Las Vegas, Henderson, or North Las Vegas

✔ Current or retired day/night shift worker

✔ Retired night shift workers with more than 10 years of night shift experience

What Does Participation Include?

  • Baseline questionnaire

  • Two weeks of brief sleep surveys

  • Home sleep studies

Participants receive compensation.

Who Qualifies for this study?

  1. Currently working day shift or night shift

  2. Retired day shift worker

Why This Research Matters

Shift work is a reality for many healthcare professionals. Studies like this may help researchers better understand how sleep patterns and circadian rhythms influence long-term cognitive health, including the risk of conditions such as Alzheimer's disease.

From One Nurse to Another

As a fellow registered nurse, I know firsthand the challenges of working nights, weekends, holidays, and rotating schedules. My Healthcare Heroes blog isn't just about mortgages—it's about supporting the healthcare professionals who dedicate their lives to caring for others. Whenever I come across opportunities like this that may benefit our nursing community, I'll be happy to share them.

I think that's a great idea. Too much Alzheimer's/Dementia today compared to years ago. Something has to be affecting more people. Thanks for sharing!
